Annual Membership Fees 2020-2021

Message from the Blackheath Squash Club Committee

The 2020/21 annual membership fees would normally start to become due from 1 October 2020 for members with a 1 October renewal date. In the light of the disruption caused by COVID-19 and the closure of the Club for 4 months the Club Committee has decided to give all members who were members during the closure a free 4 months membership for 2020/21. For example, members with a renewal date of 1 October 2020 will get free membership until 31 January 2021.

Members who have extended discounted memberships will get a free four month extension to their extended membership.

The full annual membership rates for senior members remains at £120 for peak membership and £48.50 for off-peak membership. Junior annual membership fees will increase from £10 to £15 for 2020/21 to reflect the £15 affiliation fees the Club pays to England Squash and Kent Squash for each junior member. The junior annual membership fee will increase to £20 for 2021/22 so the junior membership makes a contribution to the Club's finances.

After taking into account the 4 month free membership the annual membership fees due for 2020/21 for existing members with a renewal date of 1st October are as follows:

Senior peak - £80

Senior off-peak - £32

Junior - £10

The Club is offering a staggered discount for early payment on the above fees as follows:

- renew prior to annual renewal date - peak membership £60, off-peak £24, Junior £7.50;

- renew within one month after annual renewal date - peak membership £65, off-peak £26, junior £8

- renew within 2 months after annual renewal date - peak membership £70, off-peak £28, junior £8.75

- renew within 3 months of annual renewal date - peak membership £75, off-peak £30, junior £9

The closure of the Club during 2019/20 for 4 months and the current restricted play arrangements have had a significant negative impact on the Club's finances. We believe it is right to offer members the free membership period and the discounts above to reflect the disruption caused by COVID-19. 2025 Handicap Tournamament

Congratulations to Alex Booth who won the 2025 Handicap Tournament, and to Abhishek Jaywant for making it through to the finals. Alex was the second seed in the tournament and Abhishek the top seed with Alex having a -17 and Abhishek -18, so the games started at -1 to 0. Alex won a close first game 11/9 but Abhishek fought to win the second game 11/4. Alex went on to win the next two games and win the match by three games to one. Well done to Alex and Abhishek and to the fifty players that entered the tournament. A big thanks also to Alex for organising this tournament which was held for the first time since pre-covid times in 2019.
