Club re-opens Monday

The Club will re-open from 5pm next Monday 8 August. It is closed during that day to allow some snagging work to take place. The new electric court heaters are in place and look much better than the old gas heater.

Some points for members attention:

The scaffold is remaining in place until it rains to allow access to the roof to deal with any leaks. Please take care when entering and leaving the Club. In particular the balcony door does not fully open due to the scaffold so please open and close slowly!

An unexpected consequence of the new roof installation was the need to remove the water tanks from the loft space. Now all cold water facilities-taps/showers/WCs-are fed direct from the mains supply. However this work was unplanned and we are still in the process of replacing the hot water supply. This will not be completed until sometime after next Monday so in the interim there is no hot water.

The new court heaters have different controls to the old heaters. We will post instructions on use by the court doors and will also send members an e-mail. Given the current weather it is not anticipated they will be needed in the short term!

The areas above the court walls look great and we will be arranging for the court walls and floors to be cleaned up in the autumn by a specialist squash court maintenance contractor.

So, if you are a complete beginner who would like to try out the game, or a competent player looking for a "knock", why not pop along for a session of fun and exercise, do some stretching and play some squash. Please make sure have non-m arking trainers and bring a racquet if you have one, if not we can loan you one for the session.
