Support Jonny and Team Blackheath Squash!

The Vitality Big Half Marathon is taking place on 1st March 2020 and for the first time Blackheath Squash Club
has five runners taking part, club member Johnny Owens and four of his friends. They are running to raise funds for the Club's redevelopment
to build two more courts which will enable the Club to play a key community role
for increasing participation in the sport as well as expanding squash and racketball to under-represented and disadvantaged groups.
Johnny, Bene, Deano, Lewis and Tom will be running the Vitality Big Half. "Although we've all done at least one of these before, it's going to be a big challenge as life commitments have certainly challenged our various fitness levels. However, it's for a worthwhile cause, and we'll do our best!".
They are raising money for Johnny's squash club, Blackheath squash club. A long standing, well established club, with a really nice community feel, the club are raising funds to build two more courts, with a primary aim of the extra space being to play a key community role for increasing female participation in the sport as well as expanding squash and racketball to disadvantaged groups. Johnny plays regularly and considers squash a key aid in maintaining positive mental health.
Please donate what you can towards this worthwhile project. Johnny promises to play squash with you if you do :-)

Congratulations to Alex Booth who won the 2025 Handicap Tournament, and to Abhishek Jaywant for making it through to the finals. Alex was the second seed in the tournament and Abhishek the top seed with Alex having a -17 and Abhishek -18, so the games started at -1 to 0. Alex won a close first game 11/9 but Abhishek fought to win the second game 11/4. Alex went on to win the next two games and win the match by three games to one. Well done to Alex and Abhishek and to the fifty players that entered the tournament. A big thanks also to Alex for organising this tournament which was held for the first time since pre-covid times in 2019.
